Life Force WorkbookDespite the various complexities of the last little while, I've been writing; more to the point, my publishers haven't been sleeping on the job. Aeon Books thus has no fewer than three new titles on their way to print, and ready for preorders.

First out of the gate, due out in September of this year, is The Life Force Workbook, the third in the series of workbooks published for students of the Golden Section Fellowship (but also useful to students of any Western occult tradition. This one focuses on the etheric plane, and provides a great deal of detailed instruction in the theory and practice of etheric occultism. It can be preordered here, and you can get a 20% discount with the code LFW20.

GrailSecond is the new edition of The Ceremony of the Grail, my exploration of the Grail legends, their roots in Gnostic tradition, their role in the genesis ot Freemasonry, and the survival of the ritual at their heart into modern times. It will be out in October; it can be preordered here, and the code for the 20% discount is COG20.

boomThe third is the revised edition of my wry classic Apocalypse Not. This was originally written in the runup to the great non-event of December 21, 2012, in an attempt to let at least a few people know that the whole business was simply the latest rehash of one of history's all-time bad ideas: the Apocalypse Meme, as I term it in the book. 2012 has come and gone but plenty of people remain convinced that the world has got to end sometime soon so that they don't have to deal with the consequences of their own actions. This new edition may be no more successful at reaching the true believers than the earlier version was, but it may help insulate the rest of us from that particular form of craziness. It will be out in November; it can be preordered here, and the discount code is APOCALYPSE20.

(If you're in Britain or Europe, you can click on the British flag logo on the upper right of tthe Aeon website to go to the British site; the same discount codes apply there.)

Stay tuned for more announcements. This promises to be a productive year for me.

Well, Isn't This Special

Over the last few hours, several people have forwarded this to me:

Here's the text if you can't read it:

"NOT for public sharing. Trusted comrades only.

"A Minneapolis comrade has planted a magic "antenna" which can be targeted for sending bad, bad winter storms to Minneapolis, because people who live there know how to Winter, but ICE agents from Florida and Texas and etc. very much do not, and do not have appropriate cold weather gear.

"Let's show them whose team General Frost is on. If you're not sure what to do, the easiest thing is to print the picture our [sic] (black and white is okay), put a tea light on top, and chant "General Frost, freeze out ICE" over and over until you are too exhausted to do so. Let the candle burn complete [sic] out.

"Don't go rogue unless you know what you're doing."

Under most circumstances I wouldn't worry about this sort of thing, given the very limited success rate of earlier efforts by the self-proclaimed "Magic Resistance," but weather magic is notoriously unpredictable, especially in the hands of the poorly trained. Back in my teen years, when I was hopelessly naive about magic, a friend and I tried to play games with a winter storm for stupid reasons, and had it blow up out of control and cause a lot of damage and disruption.  I would encourage all my readers in the upper Midwest and elsewhere to make sure you're ready for really extreme conditions if this does something similar. Please pass on the warning to anyone who (a) might be affected and (b) might take this seriously.

I could make a few comments about the brutal cluelessness of those who think that it's okay for them to cause harm to others because they think they're the Good Guys™, but right now the important thing is to make sure that word gets out so that if this blows up, as few people as possible will be harmed by it.

Well, that was an entertainment I didn't need.  As I think most of you are aware by now, I'm relocating, and going through the usual shuffle of changing phone and internet providers. Here in Rhode Island, my service was via Cox, and I made the mistake of giving them advance warning about shutting off service, via an online chat today.  I asked them to shut things down on Jan 30, but they proceeded to shut down my internet and phone service the moment the chat was finished. Attempts to make contact with them got exactly nowhere.

Two comments for the moment:

First, for the next few days I'll have very limited access to the internet. I'll be online to put through comments once a day or so.

Second, I don't recommend Cox as an internet provider. Their customer service is very poor and their service in general is shoddy.  Almost any other firm would be a better option. Just saying...

I'll have more connectivity later this week and will be settling into my new digs next week. Stay tuned!
